PELA highlights North Macedonia's investment potential alongside UN General Assembly
New York | 22 September 2026
PELA Managing Director Nik Jovanovski and Senior Advisor Dr Isabel Cane join North Macedonian and U.S. representatives at the BCIU roundtable in New York, held alongside the 81st United Nations General Assembly.
Pela Global Limited (“PELA” or the “Company”) was pleased to participate in a high-level business roundtable hosted by the Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU) in New York on 21 September, alongside the 81st United Nations General Assembly.
Invited by BCIU, PELA’s Managing Director, Nik Jovanovski, and Senior Advisor, Dr Isabel Cane, joined H.E. Hristijan Mickoski, Prime Minister of North Macedonia, and H.E. Timčo Mucunski, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, together with representatives of the U.S. administration and international business community.
PELA shared progress on its investment in North Macedonia, where it is undertaking a Reserve Validation Program to assess the potential restart of the historic Krstov Dol antimony mine. The project secured up to US$5 million toward eligible project development costs from the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) earlier this year.
Speaking at the roundtable, PELA highlighted the country's longstanding mining tradition, educated workforce, considerable mineral wealth and strategic location as key reasons for its decision to invest.
“North Macedonia has a proud mining heritage, a skilled workforce and significant mineral potential. At Krstov Dol, we see an opportunity not only to develop a new source of critical minerals, but to bring investment back into a historic mining region, create opportunities for local communities and contribute to the country’s long-term economic development. With DFC’s support, we hope to demonstrate what responsible international investment in North Macedonia can deliver,” said Nik Jovanovski.
PELA thanks Prime Minister Mickoski and his delegation, and BCIU for the invitation and the opportunity to share its experience investing in North Macedonia.
